Kimberly Senior reunites with Chris Gethard, whose HBO special Career Suicide she directed, for a new workshop performance of his solo show at Irish Repertory Theatre’s New Works Fall Festival.
In 1928, Gethard’s grandfather left a small village in Northern Ireland and eventually made his way to America. A hundred years later, Gethard asks: was it worth it? In this nimble and thoughtful one-man show he shares his thoughts on Irish-American hypocrisy, the under-appreciated cultural impact of 90s hip hop group House of Pain, and his own melancholy journey to his ancestral village.
